Launch scope
- Stock MajorMUD with all nine official modules running.
- The fan-made Dragonlance Expansion and the Blighted Marshes are fully featured at launch.
- Content is in place to push players comfortably to level 80, with legendary level-90 gear already in the loot tables.
- The level cap is 200.
- Additional content is already in development. New expansions roll out when later-game zones saturate, or monthly — whichever comes first.
Rebalance edits
- Stock limited drops converted to farmable. The original game’s limited items are now unlimited drops with set percentages — everyone gets a shot at the rare gear they always wanted. The new expansion content retains the limited rare system to reward the daring and brave who push into harder territory.
- Stock boss EXP reduced, with quest rewards significantly boosted to compensate (see Quest Rewards below). New-content bosses are not affected — the Black Dominion and Dragonlance Expansion boss tables carry full high-value EXP and limited gear drops to reward exploration.
- Overworld monster regen more than doubled. Stock zones repopulate fast. Camping pays.
Help for the squishies
Plate-wearers have always had the easier road early. To narrow the gap, a handful of instant-regen monster arenas have been added across the realm in the spirit of the slime beast room — tucked away, not advertised, and tuned to give classes that struggle in the first dozen levels somewhere reliable to grind. Find them.
For dedicated casters, new spell scripting rooms have been seeded throughout the realm: rooms that test caster archetypes Caster-2 and above with custom mechanics worth mastering. New spells have been added too, including Indignation — a Mana Storm-tier AOE for Priests against the undead.
New scripting locations have been added to fill the early-game snooze. Make custom paths to get ahead — share them on the Discord or keep them private. Your choice.
Quest reward overhaul
Time away from camp should be worth the trip. Every major quest in the realm has been retuned to respect the hours you put in.
- Smash & Meditate quests now obtainable at level 20 for all qualifying classes. Only 10 items required instead of 50, and the paltry 5,000 EXP bonus increased to a respectable 500,000 EXP for your time away from camp.
- Master Assassin’s Secret to Perfect Stealth quest now available at level 20 for all qualifying classes, rewarding 500,000 EXP.
- Sunstone Wristband Quest — defeating the Dao Lord now grants 7,500,000 EXP instead of 2,000,000.
- The quest to obtain the Phoenix Feather now grants 1,500,000 EXP.
- Alignment Quest 1, 2, and 3 — EXP rewards tripled.
- The Power of the Ruby guarded by the Red Dragon, the Gem in the Elder Grove, the Aura of the Frozen Throne atop the Rocky Cliffs, and the return of the holy Golden Chalice — all carry increased EXP rewards. The Chalice is more valued than ever before.
- Witchunter Magebane Quest grants a boon of 100,000 EXP to set you on your way to end the Demoness Irikani’s fiery reign.
NPC quests & signposts
NPC Monster Slaying Quests for EXP or money are live. Talk to new NPCs you encounter — or maybe old ones you walked past before.
READ THE SIGNS IN NEW HAVEN AND SILVERMERE. Those who don’t do so at their own detriment.
Class & item edits
- Warlocks now have two-handed weapon access. If a Mage can channel through a two-handed staff, a Warlock can channel through a great axe.
- Scale armour weights reduced by 15%. Lighter on the move, same protection.
- Mage spell ‘Illuminate’ now functions like Starlight — no longer requires lighting the Lightball like a torch.
- Potions are no longer magical items. The ‘magical’ trait has been removed — Witchunters can now reluctantly swallow them to cure poisons, patch wounds, or enhance their combat prowess temporarily. Think alchemy, not witchcraft. Toss those potions to your Witchunter.
- New Smash-tier weapons sprinkled into the loot pool from levels 20–40 in limited availability. Find them and smash things.
Lair functionality
The popular ‘Lair Mod’ functionality is considered and enhanced by our realm’s planning and implementation. If it is easier on your brain: yes, we have the Lair Mod. For those who want to know more, we have a much better implementation — regen is increased across the board.
Player permissions
SYS GOandSYS MAPare enabled. The realm is meant to be enjoyed and explored, not slogged through. Player time is valuable; the way home shouldn’t cost an hour every session.- No
SYS BOT. There will be no free alignment changes or free retrains.SYS MAPandSYS GOare for the players. - Lawful option enabled. You can choose to be Good-aligned from character creation.
- Entertainment Module enabled. Additional lives can be purchased in-game so a string of bad luck doesn’t end a long-built character. Hedge accordingly before high-stakes runs.
Note · Gold Jeweled Rings
Not for sale at this time. The experience-rate system is balanced around what each race and class already brings to the table. Dispensing GJRs would unfairly advantage races without dark vision by giving them a head-start they weren’t meant to have, and would also flatten the value of many early-game rare items. This decision is subject to change.
Custom commands
Beyond the standard MajorMUD commands, this realm ships custom add-ins that give you more information than any stock realm provides. Learn them early — they will save you hours.
RMRoom infoShows your current Map and Room number, the regen time remaining in the room, and the room’s illumination level. Essential for knowing exactly where you are and when the next spawn is due.
DEARecent deathsShows your last few recent deaths: what killed you, the map and room number it happened in, and a timestamp. For those unfortunate souls who died AFK in a long loop somewhere deep in the Diamond Mines — worry not on finding which of the 300 rooms your death pile is hidden in. DEA is here.

ST AFull stat drill-downGives you all your stats — not just the stock summary, but a massive drill-down into every META-level detail: HP/MA, encumbrance, AC base and vs-alignment, DR, resistances (cold, fire, water, stone, lightning), dodge, crits, spell damage, HP and MA regen rates, backstab accuracy and damage, attack/bash/smash min/max/swings/speed, combat tier, encumbrance %, QnD crit, all six core stats, and the full skill breakdown (perception, stealth, tracking, thievery, martial arts, spellcast, picklocks, traps). Invaluable when testing new loot, checking buffs and debuffs, or honing your build.

MNRemote monster lookupCheck if a specific monster is alive and ready for a showdown without walking there first. Syntax: MN { monster name } while standing in the room, or MN { room# } { map# } to check any room remotely.
Returns the monster’s ID, current and max HP, limit (how many can exist at once), and regen timer. Want to know if the Beholder is up? Type MN 641 3 and find out before you make the trip.

PvP & disputes
By pre-launch feedback, PvP has been disabled. There will be no PvP.
Death-pile raiding is discouraged, but the sysop will still not intervene in player affairs such as loot disputes or scripting-spot arguments. Handle grievances in the Arena — best of five, or whatever terms you agree on, and the loser respects the loss. That’s wishful thinking, but we enjoy the golden rule and it helps the realm thrive and keep player count.
Remember: you win more flies with honey.
Multiboxing and dupes
Some players have more time than others to set up, monitor, and maintain multibox environments — or run META setups to clean-sweep boss content and dominate the top ten. We are not building a realm where that becomes the norm.
But this is a 30+ year old terminal game, and any player who wants to invest time in our little hobby project is welcome here. Duping is permitted as long as it stays clear of abuse.
- The soft ask: if you want more than one hero, please keep it to two or three boxes at most. While the realm is finding its feet, err toward forming parties with other humans rather than saturating zones with copies of yourself.
- The audits: the sysop runs regular IP-log audits. Light duping is fine. Large coordinated dupe parties cornering the loot economy in bad faith is not.
The hard line
If I catch someone abusing the good-faith rule, your characters’ loot gets pinned up in the town square like a piñata on Cinco de Mayo for the rest of the realm to have their way with — and then your characters get banned and deleted. I take the time when it is worth taking.
Sysop philosophy
MajorMUD is a gritty dark fantasy realm that polices its own. The sysop will not intervene in player affairs except under extreme conditions. Disputes between players, gang politics, ninja looting, training etiquette, social drama — that’s for the realm to settle. Bring it to the sysop only when something is genuinely broken.
Reset policy
The realm will not be reset unless it goes derelict, or a majority vote calls for it — and even then, not until at least one full year has passed since the previous reset. Your character investment is safe. Long-term builds, hoarded gear, mature relationships with the world: all of it persists.
